The Challenge
To deliver stadium WiFi as a way to enhance their fans’ match-day experience and support extra club services that give back to the community, through reliable connectivity.
Llanelli Town AFC, founded in 1896, is a community-focused football club and stadium based in South Wales. Playing at Stebonheath Park, the club has a rich history and success in Welsh football. Alongside its men’s team, it proudly supports a women’s squad, pan-disability teams and youth programmes. With strong ties to the local community, the club promotes inclusivity and giving back through various initiatives and partnerships.
Solution
Wifinity provided a new stadium network that covers the stands, grounds, bar, café and other public areas of the publicly owned non-league club.
Wifinity’s partner Sky Business Wholesale provided the underlying circuit access for the Stadium WiFi. Through its Sky Up programme, Sky is helping to bridge the digital divide in local communities by providing access to broadband, tech and digital skills support.
Results
Fans, season ticket holders and sponsors at Llanelli Town AFC’s Stebonheath Park in South Wales, now have free and fast stadium WiFi service for life. Local groups and clubs using the facilities can connect their devices, so the town has a new venue for learning and hobbies.

The Future
The club aims to give back to local charities, causes and businesses. Wayne Stephens, Llanelli Town AFC chairman, says that the stadium WiFi provides connectivity for youth programme, and the club’s successful women’s and pan-disability teams.
It creates opportunities for local clubs and special interest groups to meet at the ground. Locals can use digital public services, online banking, complete online learning, work remotely and more.
Wayne Stephens adds:
“At Llanelli Town AFC, we look for ways to give back to our community. Thanks to Wifinity’s support, our new WiFi service will enhance our fans’ match-day experience. It also opens opportunities for local groups, charities, sponsors and individuals who want to use the ground and facilities. The connectivity service will have a lasting impact seven days a week.”
Llanelli Town Council supports the Stadium WiFi project, it said: “Llanelli Town Council welcomes this development of the WiFi facilities at Stebonheath and expresses its grateful thanks to Llanelli Town AFC for the works carried out. The council looks forward to continuing to work with the club to develop the facilities.”
