Challenge
The REME Museum at MOD Lyneham is dedicated to displaying the proud history of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Its existing infrastructure couldn’t support ambitions to deliver a digital visitor experience with features including QR codes linked to richer Corps information and displays. Its café, conference room and education centre also needed guest WiFi connectivity to support daily operations and events, seeing up to 500 attendees on busy days.

A free, guest WiFi solution capable of:
- High-speed connectivity for guests, staff and secure internal operations.
- Reliable service handle peak visitor traffic.
- Alignment with Ministry of Defence (MOD) B2B Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Distinct SSIDs for guest, staff and secure usage.

Solution
Wifinity delivered a custom solution with 100 Mbps per guest WiFi speeds, supported by 12 Ruckus access points and two network switches. Integrating with Wifinity’s existing core network, it provides a stable and scalable connection across the museum and uninterrupted service at peak traffic times during high-capacity events.

The Future
The REME Museum’s partnership with Wifinity has transformed its connectivity, supporting the museum’s goal to preserve and share the history of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. visitors, staff and event attendees, are now well-connected, using a guest WiFi solution aligned with MOD standards.
