Project Overview
Supplying superfast broadband to over 1,600 rooms in eight key worker accommodation sites
In 2014, Optify, a brand later acquired by Wifinity, was awarded a contract in a competitive tender process to supply connectivity to eight hospital sites across the South East of England, including Frimley Park Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, Heatherwood Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Queen Victoria Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and the Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
This covers 1,637 rooms, in 30 blocks, across the eight sites.
In 2019, MTVH awarded a 10-year contract extension to Wifinity, and we’ve been supplying managed high-speed WiFi and wired broadband since.
The Successes
We deployed superfast broadband over WiFi and ethernet using in-corridor WiFi access points, as well as overlay services, enabling the key-worker residents to access high-speed WiFi across the entire site.
Residents and visitors have access to our broadband service, enabling them to sign up for great value WiFi and be online in minutes—without having to commit to long-term contracts or arranging hardware installation.
As part of the contract renewal. We have upgraded the existing hardware to ensure residents have access to the fastest speeds possible, as well as installing 50 digital signs across the eight sites.
We also rolled out training to the MTVH teams to give on-site support and have planned ongoing upgrades so customers can access speeds of up to 1 Gb/s on our flexible broadband contracts.
