22 October 2024, Llanelli, Wales – Fans, season ticket holders and sponsors at Llanelli Town AFC’s Stebonheath Park in South Wales, now have free and fast public WiFi service for life. All equipment and installation have been provided free of charge by managed internet service provider, Wifinity, as part of its Good Connections community digital inclusion programme.

The new network covers the stands, grounds, bar, café and other public areas of the publicly owned non-league club. Besides adding extra buzz to the match-day fans’ experience, the WiFi service is set to make a positive difference to the community beyond the pitch.

The club aims to give back to local charities, causes and businesses. Wayne Stephens, Llanelli Town AFC chairman, says that the service provides connectivity for youth programme, and the club’s successful women’s and pan-disability teams.

It creates opportunities for local clubs and special interest groups to meet at the ground. Locals can use digital public services, online banking, complete online learning, work remotely and more.

Mr Stephens adds “At Llanelli Town AFC, we look for ways to give back to our community. Thanks to Wifinity’s support, our new WiFi service will enhance our fans’ match-day experience. It also opens opportunities for local groups, charities, sponsors and individuals who want to use the ground and facilities. The connectivity service will have a lasting impact seven days a week.”

Llanelli Town Council supports the project, it said: “Llanelli Town Council welcomes this development of the WiFi facilities at Stebonheath and expresses its grateful thanks to Llanelli Town AFC for the works carried out. The council looks forward to continuing to work with the club to develop the facilities.”

Wifinity provided all the active kit and installation as part of Good Connections. Its social values programme supports digital inclusion in local communities. Its entire team has an opportunity to be involved in the project.

Wifinity’s partner Sky Business Wholesale provided the underlying circuit access at cost price. Through its Sky Up programme, Sky is helping to bridge the digital divide in local communities by providing access to broadband, tech and digital skills support.

Rosie Briercliffe, Chief of Staff at Wifinity is proud that the company is improving connectivity in local communities: “It’s our company mission to provide connectivity in areas where others won’t. Many of our team volunteered to be part of this programme. We all feel proud to make a positive impact on local people and businesses.”
