Finding your MAC address

How to find your device’s MAC address

To use your service, you need to tell us which of your devices (e.g. phone, laptop, tablet) you want to use. When our network “sees” these devices it will just let them straight onto the network, so you don’t need to sign in every time.

To identify devices we use the MAC address, a short set of numbers and letters that is unique to your device. For example, 00:12:34:56:AB:CD.

To find your device’s MAC, see the guides below:

iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch 

1. Tap Settings 
2. Select General 
3. Then Select About 
4. The Mac Address is listed as WiFi Address 

Apple TV: 

Software version 1.0: Settings > About  

Software version 2.0: Settings > General > About The Apple TV  

Please note: The MAC address’/Network IDs (both Ethernet and wireless) can also be found on the UPC label on the Apple TV box. This is the same label that lists the serial number for your Apple TV.

MacBook OS X 10.4 and Earlier  

1. Open System Preferences (from the icon in the Dock or from the Apple menu). 
2. Select Network. 
3. Select AirPort from the Show drop-down menu. The MAC address is listed as AirPort ID. 

MacBook OS X 10.5 or 10.6 (Leopard or Snow Leopard)  

1. Open System Preferences (from the icon in the Dock or from the Apple menu). 
2. Select Network. 
3. Select AirPort from the left pane and then click the Advanced button. 
4. The MAC address is listed as AirPort ID. 

MacBook OS X 10.7 (Lion or Mountain Lion) 

1. Open System Preferences (from the icon in the Dock or from the Apple menu). 
2. Select Network. 
3. Select AirPort from the left pane and then click the Advanced button. 
4. The MAC address is listed as WiFi Address. 

Samsung Phone, Samsung Tablets and TV’s 

1. Go to Settings. 
2. Select About phone or device. 
3. Select Status. 
4. Scroll down to Wi-Fi MAC Address. 

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2: 

1. From a home screen, select Apps Apps icon. 
2. Note Located at the bottom when viewed in portrait or at the right in landscape. 
3. From the Apps tab, select Settings. 
4. Select About device. 
5. Select Status. 
6. Locate the Wi-Fi MAC address. 

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4: 

1. From the Home screen, select the app slider at the bottom-right portion of the screen. 
2. Tap “Settings“. 
3. Choose the “General” option at the top of the screen. 
4. Scroll down on the left pane and select “About device“. 
5. Choose “Status” on the right side. 
6. The Wi-Fi MAC address will be displayed on the screen. 

Samsung Smart TV: 

1. Select Network Settings. 
2. Choose Network Status. 
3. The MAC address is the first thing in the list. 

Google Chromebook 

  1. Click the network icon in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select your network status from the menu that appears. 
  3. In the network menu that appears, click the “i” icon in the lower-right corner. 
  4. Your device’s MAC address is listed in the message that appears.  


Windows 10 

  1. Select the Wifi icon on the bottom right of your screen  
  1. select network & Internet settings  
  1. Select Wifi on the left hand side and then Hardware properties on the right hand side 
  1. The WiFi address is listed as the Physical Address at the bottom  

You can also locate the WiFi address by following the steps for the command prompt for below in windows 8 section. 

Windows 8 

1. Press the Windows Start key to open the Start screen. 
2. Type cmd and press Enter to launch the command prompt. 
3. Type ipconfig /all into the command prompt. 
4. The Wifi Mac Address Look for the Physical Address under Wireless Adapter. 
5. Type exit and press Enter to exit the command prompt. 

 
Windows 7 / Vista 

1. Click the Wireless Network Connection icon from within your system tray (near the clock). 
2. Select Network and Sharing Center. 
3. Select View status. 
4. Select Details. 
5. The MAC address is listed as Physical Address. 

Android Phones / Tablets

1. Swipe down on the Home screen, and go to Settings. 
2. Tap About Phone. 
3. Tap Status information (or Hardware Information). 
4. Scroll down to see your WiFi MAC address. 

Android Smartwatch: 

  1. Connect your smartwatch to your phone via your personal hotspot. 
  1. Once connected, click on the Wifinity Network again, this should bring up your WiFi Mac address. 

Xbox

1. Navigate to the Settings page. 
2. Select Network. 
3. Select Advanced Settings. 
4. WiFi MAC address will be listed next to MAC on the right hand side of the screen

PlayStation 5 

1. Settings  

2. System 

3. Select Console Information  

4. WiFi MAC address  
 
Sony PlayStation 4 

1. Select Menu. 
2. Navigate to Settings. 
3. Navigate to Network. 
4. Select View Connection Status. 
5. Mac Address is listed as Wifi Address 

Nintendo Switch 

  1. Select “System Settings” from the HOME Menu. 
  1. Scroll down through the menu and select “Internet.”  
  1. The console’s MAC address will be listed under “System MAC Address.” 

Google Nest 

  1. Select Settings in the top right corner of the Nest app home screen 
  2. Select the product that you want to view 
  3. Select Technical Info  
  4. The WiFi MAC Address should appear there  
     
    Google Nest Camera Indoor/Outdoor these devices have a sticker with the WiFi MAC address on them. 
     
    Google Thermostat 
    1. Tap the screen
    2. Select Settings 
    3. Select Technical Info  
    4. The Wifi MAc Address should appear there 

Google Chromecast 

Locating the MAC address during Chromecast setup: 
 
From the “Connect to Wi-Fi” screen of the setup process, tap the More menu icon located in the top right corner and then tap “show MAC Address”. 

Locating the MAC address after Chromecast setup: 

  1. Open the Google Home app. 
  2. Tap your Chromecast device. 
  3. Tap Settings. 
  4. Scroll down to Information to find your MAC address. 

Amazon Echo Alexa 

If you have not previously setup your device on another network: 

1. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device. 
2. Once the Alexa app opens, select the settings icon on the bottom right corner. 
3. Then, “Set up a new device.” 
4. Select the type of device you wish to set up. 
5. Select your desired language and press continue. 
6. Follow on-screen prompts to begin device setup. 
7. Follow on-screen prompts to connect to the Amazon device via the integrated Wi-Fi hotspot. 
8. Connect to the hotspot. 
9. Once connected, choose “Continue.” 
10. The MAC address of your Echo will display at the bottom of this page. 

If you have previously setup your device on another network: 

1. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device. 
2. Once the Alexa app opens, select the settings icon on the bottom right corner. 
3. Next, select your Alexa device. It will be listed under the “Devices” section. 
4. Scroll down and select “About.” 
5. You will see your MAC Address listed on this page. 

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Network and Internet
  3. Click View Hardware and Connection Properties
  4. Select WiFi tab on the left side of the window
  5. Click The Hardware Properties
  6. Copy the Physical Address. Please note: If you’re connecting a wired connection please look for the Ethernet Physical Address. If you’re connecting a wireless device please look for the WiFi Physical Address.
  7. Log in to your My Account and click “Device Management” along the top.
  8. Click “Add Device”, write “MODNET”, and select “Computer.”
  9. Enter the Physical Address and click “Save”.
